How was the Matatalab robot(s) used?
We used them in activities included in a project called Treasure quest. Those activities were dedicated to looking for treasures dodging pirates using treasure maps and creating and recording imaginative stories. To do this, we used the blue coordinates map and all the command buttons, including the recording function.
What skills did it develop?
Using Tale-bot Pro they develop some skills like attention, spatial ability, abstract thinking, computational thinking, storytelling, creativity and team working.
What worked best and what was challenging?
The best was:
the different coloured buttons for each different movement or function the color bar with the same colors as buttons the command cards to plan the path before coding the dancing and recording function the interactive stickers to create funny histories
The challenging part was:
to peel the stickers from the map after use and stick them to the stickers book again.
How did students respond?
Students responded very well and they are really happy to use Tale-bot in the class. They love that Tale- Bot helped them to look for undersea treasures following the maps, their favorite part was to dance with Tale-bot when it arrived at the X mark. It was really easy for the students to understand how it works and that allowed them to achieve more and more difficult challenges.
